Smarter together, further together
Smarter together, further together
How can you save energy at home and how can you work together in your neighbourhood to keep your future energy bills affordable? Residents and representatives of businesses and associations/organisations in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk Oost discussed these questions this year. Before the end of this year, they want to start implementing a number of concrete measures to make homes more sustainable.
After four inspiring Samen Slimmer Energie evenings, it is time for concrete insulation measures to make your home more sustainable in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk. How do we approach this? In a number of follow-up meetings, we will help residents who want to get started with insulation and sustainable heating. Meetings were held on 13 November and 27 November. The next meeting will be on 22 January 2026.
Earlier this year, the Hazerswoude-Rijndijk Oost Village Council, Actief Rijnwoude and Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn held four meetings for residents, businesses and associations/organisations on energy-saving measures at home and in the neighbourhood. Under the motto ’Smarter together, further together', the focus in the coming weeks will be on making our own homes more sustainable together. Work on the energy community will continue at the beginning of next year.
Insulation
The information evening on 13 November 2025 covered the following topics:
- Green roofs (sedum roofing)
- Glass insulation and window frames with insulating glass
- Floor and ground insulation
- Facade insulation
- Roof insulation
- Ventilate
- Grants
Sustainable heating
The meeting on Thursday, 27 November, was about:
- Ventilation
- Heat pumps and distribution system (a distribution system for a heat pump spreads the generated heat throughout the home and is crucial to the efficiency of the system).
- Consequences of abolishing the net metering scheme: increase in own consumption (battery, electric boiler and energy management).
Energiek Alphen has produced leaflets containing information on these topics. You can obtain the leaflets here download.
The next step
The Energy Coaches at Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn are happy to help you with your energy questions. For example, you can request specific energy advice about heat pumps. We can also help you – perhaps together with neighbours or other local residents – to be well prepared for the quotation process and advise you on which companies to engage. We bundle the requests and then submit a joint quotation request for several homes. A joint approach can result in cost savings of up to ten per cent.
- For insulating glass, we submit a request to Alphense Glas Centrale.
- For windows/window frames, we submit a request to Palm Kozijnen.
- For floor and ground insulation, we submit a request to Renovatie Totaal.
These providers can offer customised solutions for the most common types of homes in Rijndijk-Oost. Energiek Alphen will guide you through the quotation process. Would you like to take advantage of this service? Then fill in the quotation request form. This offer is entirely without obligation; ultimately, you decide which company you want to hire.
Neighbourhood heating and energy community
On Thursday, 22 January 2026 We are holding an information evening for residents about the possibility of creating a neighbourhood heating network. In addition, the first steps will be taken towards establishing an energy community in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk. With the net metering scheme set to be abolished in 2027, an energy community is an attractive alternative. A number of participants in the Samen Slimmer Energie evenings have already indicated that they would like to contribute their ideas on this subject.
Can we share energy between residents, businesses and social housing? Within such a community, the first step is to map out how much electricity is generated sustainably and how high energy consumption is. The community must then be brought into balance: the more balance there is, the less the national grid needs to be reinforced! This can result in enormous savings; moreover, the energy network does not need to be reinforced to such an extreme degree. Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn is implementing the Glanskern Benthuizen pilot project. Here you can read how that works.

Request form for information and advice
Would you like to know more about specific sustainability measures for your home? Are you curious about the possibilities of implementing measures together with other residents in your neighbourhood? Or would you like to know more about the support that Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn and Actief Rijnwoude can offer? Please fill in the Information and Advice Request Form. We will then contact you as soon as possible.
Smarter Together Energy Evening 22 May 2025
