Signature of multi-year cooperation agreement with municipality
On 19 December, the municipality and Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn signed a cooperation agreement for the years 2025-2028. “We are delighted that this collaboration will enable us to make an important contribution to achieving an energy-neutral municipality by 2050: the municipality as the director of the energy transition and Energiek Alphen as an independent residents” organisation for energy issues," says Erik de Ruijter, chairman of Energiek Alphen. He signed the covenant together with secretary Wim van Aken and councillor Geert van den Ham (sustainability).
Alphen aan den Rijn is working towards an energy-neutral future. Residents and businesses are already making great strides in the energy transition, together with the local council. The Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn energy cooperative also plays an important role in this. Their energy coaches provide energy advice to residents and are involved in various sustainable projects. To further strengthen this collaboration, a multi-year cooperation agreement has been signed.
Councillor Van den Ham: “We can only tackle the energy transition together. Energiek Alphen helps our residents with their expertise. Thanks to the subsidy associated with this collaboration, Energiek Alphen can continue and expand its important work to make our municipality more sustainable. I am extremely pleased with this assistance.”
Erik de Ruijter: “Over the past year, our board and the local council have worked hard to bring this agreement to fruition. In the meantime, the number of projects has already expanded. Not only to provide concrete help to individual residents in implementing sustainable measures in their homes, but also to take advantage of opportunities in Alphen society more broadly to work together to become smarter and more sustainable. By generating and sharing sustainable energy and by making people aware of everyone's interests and promoting sustainable behaviour. Thanks to the agreement, we will be able to continue this work fully and professionally in the coming years.”
Energiek Alphen is currently implementing various projects to help residents of the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn take energy-saving measures in their homes. In addition, there are projects in the field of generating, storing and sharing sustainable energy, preferably together with other residents in your neighbourhood or village and/or in collaboration with other organisations (e.g. companies, sports clubs and social organisations). “We want to develop Energiek Alphen into an energy community for and by the entire municipality. The agreements in the covenant provide a solid foundation for this,” says Erik de Ruijter.
