Certificate for Alphen junior energy coaches!
Pupils from Het Vianova primary school and Prisma VSO spent six weeks working as junior energy coaches in October 2024. Together with their class and at home, they carried out all kinds of assignments to save energy. They recently received their Junior Energy Coach diploma.
The pupils carried out all kinds of assignments to save energy, both in class and at home. Energy coach Henny Gloudemans also visited the class. The project concluded with the presentation of Junior Energy Coach diplomas at Het Vianova by Alphen alderman Gert van der Ham (sustainability).
The pupils enjoyed the challenge of saving energy. Together with Varkentje Rund, known from the television programme ‘Het Klokhuis’, they searched for ‘old’ light bulbs and plugs that could be removed from the sockets. Taking shorter showers was another of the tasks. “I now turn off the lights in the bedrooms upstairs when I see they are still on,” said one pupil. “And we keep the doors closed as much as possible, because that keeps it warmer.”
Visit from energy coach
Henny Gloudemans, energy coach at Energiek Alphen, also visited the school during the project to talk to the pupils at Het ViaNova. Henny explains: “I brought a water-saving shower head with me. Together with the pupils, we calculated how much money you can save by using this type of shower head. The children asked all kinds of questions about sustainable savings. It's great to see how enthusiastic they are about the junior energy coach project.”
