Royal honour for Rob van Daalhoff
Rob van Daalhoff received a royal honour during the annual honours ceremony for his long-standing commitment to the welfare of the residents of Benthuizen. The chairman of the Benthuizen Village Council was appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. He is a driving force behind numerous projects, of which the collaboration with Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn is just one.
Acting mayor Peter Rehwinkel praised Rob van Daalhoff in his speech for his tireless dedication to the community of Benthuizen. Over the past decades, he has led important projects, such as the construction of care homes, the housing of Ukrainian refugees and the reconstruction of Dorpsstraat. He also campaigned for the preservation of the School met de Bijbel (School with the Bible) as a municipal monument. Together with fellow villagers and organisations such as De Zonnebloem and Actief Rijnwoude, Van Daalhoff revived the communal dining in the village hall ‘De Tas’. He actively helps in the kitchen and with serving, further strengthening his involvement in the community.
Between 2016 and 2022, he was also secretary (and now general board member) of the Friends of the Bentwoud. In addition, he volunteers for Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch Forestry Commission), organises cycling and walking tours, and has been the presenter at the Culemborg Blues Festival for almost fifteen years. Last year, Rob van Daalhoff put his weight behind the projects of Energiek Alphen in Benthuizen, to build a local energy community and make residents aware of energy-saving measures at home.
Energiek Alphen aan den Rijn warmly congratulates Rob van Daalhoff on his well-deserved award.
